Born in 1959 in Sevastopol, Batynkov is recognised for his graphics, photography and painting. He graduated from the secondary school of art № 50 in Moscow and further developed his artistic skills by studying in private studios in Moscow and on scholarship with the help of Saint -Henri in France. He is a member of the Moscow Union of Artists (IFA) and has been a member of the artist collective “Mitki” since 1985. He has actively participated and organised numerous group and solo shows, receiving various awards in the sphere of contemporary art. His works are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the State Centre for Contemporary Art and other art museums in Russia and in private collections.
In 2011 Batynkov’s personal museum apartment was opened near metro station Tretyakovskaya. Not only does it display his work but reveals the atmosphere of his childhood in 1960-1970s Moscow.
