Artifact #4

Ivan Glazkov

Description

Big City Artifacts. Each work can be considered separately, but art acquires a special value in a series. Artifacts - is an attempt to find a balance between street art and refined interior painting. To emphasize the “confrontation” of street and interior art, Glazkov, on the one hand, used such traditional materials as canvas, and on the other hand, spray paint. He also varies the tricks: multilayer thin glazing is replaced by energetic textured layers of acrylic paint. In the series, there is an internal movement and dynamics “ascending” from minimalistic white canvases to saturated and contrasting dark ones. The series is noteworthy in that each canvas “works” as a three-dimensional object: the voluminous ends of the stretcher are also part of the painting. Thus, the painting becomes a “picturesque sculpture”, the architectural form of which sends the viewer to the architectural elements of the building facades, but at the same time is a classic gallery exhibit.
